The Elite 440 Special in the Beta.

" "Special" is short-hand for "covered in a quarter ton of armor plating." It does make it a bit of a hog in turns but it's well worth it!"

― Elite 440 Special description.

The Elite 440 Special is a vehicle that is in the Elite Class of Split/Second. It is driven by Brawn and The Hammer in Elite Races, and by the Player.

Design[]

Split/Second[]

Bulky, blocky and beefy is what can be described by the 440 Special's appearance. It takes the shape of a rough bruiser given its very aggressive styling and design. The vehicle consists of sharp angles throughout the body, starting from the front fascia. The grille is made up of black mesh, with the design of the headlights grooving in towards the center, giving it an aggressive look. The lower part of the front bumper has the same black mesh as it's grille, albeit slightly shorter in height. The front bumper has jagged edges starting from the far sides of the bumper. It comes with a tow hook at the bottom right.

The hood has a massive power bulge with large hood louvers on the bulge itself and it smooths out as it reaches the bonnet. The hood itself extends a little bit further out past the bumper. The 440 Special has side flares that slightly extends further from the body of the car. Starting from the back of the front fender flare, a line divides the side skirt, consisting of carbon fiber louvers and the diver and passenger side doors. Just behind the doors are a small set of carbon fiber air ducts. Behind the driver side door, a racing tank can be seen.

On the roof, the 440 Special has twin roof fins a couple of inches from the doors. Going towards the rear of the car is where the width increases. The roof smooths and angles down towards the rear of the car, still retaining its bulky and bulge type design. Discreetly behind the large rear window lies the car's retractable spoiler that grooves and blends in with the body design and raises itself up around moderate to high speeds. The taillights consists of three lines that includes dots and angles down to where it meets a red circle as it makes its way towards the near center of the car. The only functioning lights are the inner red circle. Below the headlights are two linear slats that nicely covers the ducts, making the taillight housings a bit bigger.

The rear bumper curves upwards towards the middle of the car, forming a small '"lip". To the bottom are dual exhausts and in the middle is a black racing diffuser.

The color of the car only comes with one color, and that is grey-ish blue. Along the sides of the car, is a thin red trim, with the rest of the body being black.

The vehicle is also resembles into a 2006 Ford Mustang Giugiaro with a Lexus LFA A-like rear

440 BRN[]

"The 440 BRN is Brawn's own custom setup. Like him, you should be aiming to hurl it into your rivals with reckless abandon."

If the player purchases "The Elite" Vehicle Livery Pack, they will be given another version of the 440 Special, but this time in the signature of the Elite Driver, Brawn. Brawn's signature is placed on both driver and passenger side doors and one on the roof. The color remains the same as its regular version but the entire body is now coated in grey-ish blue. The 440 BRN also has red stripes on the power bulge of the hood, along with the bottom center of the front bumper being trimmed in red paint and the base of both doors being red that fades to black. The roof is painted red and the rear of the car is painted red also.

Grey stripes appear on the car, staring from the entire hood area and ending towards the end of both door, with singular grey stripes on the "A" Pillar. Red singular stripes can also be seen from the "B" Pillar and also fades to black. Whit stripes can be seen as it starts from the front fender flares and ends at the "B" Pillar, with the roof fins sharing white stripes also.

From the middle to the rear sides of the car and parts of the top of the rear bumper, it is covered in patterns of white triangles that faces forward in the direction of the 440 Special BRN. The roof also gets the same treatment, although it is painted red.

Performance[]

Split/Second[]

Performance

Both the 440 Special and its BRN counterpart all share the same statistics and performance.

Despite the description saying that the vehicle is a bit sluggish in the turns, it is a stable car nonetheless. It's speed is moderate to good, being able to keep up with a few of the cars in it's respectful Class A. Although due to it being built with a quarter ton of armored plating, speed is sacrificed when racing, making it only competitive with the cars in the bottom half of Class A. It can still hold it's own when behind the wheel. Drifting is good, with it being a stable car, it is stable when drifting. However do keep in mind that the back end will swing out further while drifting so it is advise to time it correctly to avoid hitting walls, thus losing momentum.

Both variants have good strength, although the car slides only a little bit when being hit by powerplay shockwaves of powerplays itself. It can recover easily after powerplays are triggered seconds after.

Acceleration is only moderate, with it being covered in armor, it is heavy, so it will only take a few seconds before the vehicle begins to get going, although it isn't detrimental, it can catch up quick easily within the pack of cars when racing.
